A New Mobile App – Summer Eats Minnesota
Welcome to Summer Eats – the easy way to locate free and nutritious meals for kids during the summer. A free mobile app that eventually all Minnesota families can use to source meals for their children up to age 18. Kids and teens can download the app too. Anyone 18 or under can simply show up and eat, without any registration or prior sign-up. Powered by GPS, the app shows the nearest serving sites, their menus and days and hours of operation. Free meals are offered at a variety of locations, including parks and recreation sites, community centers and schools. You can see a picture of the site, determine how close you are and how to get there easily. We’ve made it simple so kids don’t miss a meal when they are not in school.
Download the free app today at the Apple and Google Stores!
For Summer Meals (SFSP) Sponsors Only
Good News! We have your site information on hours and days of operation, site location, and meals served from Minnesota Department of Education (MDE).
To add your site or sites to the Summer Eats Minnesota app, we require the following:
1) site must be approved by MDE to serve summer meals.
2) site must be an open site.
3) sponsor must provide site photo or relevant photo in jpeg or png format. Examples include photos of parks, buildings, food trucks, and meal settings.
4) sponsor must provide site menus for meals served including rotation dates. See example below. We will format the menus.
Please email photos, menus, and phone numbers to firstname.lastname@example.org. It is easy and simple. Your site information will be quickly uploaded and in the app. Let’s work together to feed more hungry kids in your community!
