A Laser-Focused Strategy On Child Nutrition

Meals for Kids

Childhood hunger is a crisis with huge future education and health consequences for Minnesota. It does not need to happen.

Federal nutrition programs and resources exist to help those living in economic hardship, but they’re not fully utilized – even when children and families qualify for the programs.

We implement five focused initiatives to provide more nutritious meals to feed infants and children across Minnesota:

  1. HEALTHY FOOD FROM BIRTH TO FIVE
Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
Meals: Food Voucher for Eligible Food
  2. CHILD CARE CENTER MEALS
Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Snack and Supper
  3. SCHOOL BREAKFAST
    School Breakfast Program (SBP)
    Meals: Breakfast
  4. AFTER-SCHOOL MEALS
Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP At-Risk)
    Meals: Snack and Supper
  5. SUMMER MEALS
Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Seamless Summer Option
Meals: Free Breakfast, Lunch, Snack and Supper

In March of 2022, Hunger Impact Partners co-sponsored a community building conference for children that featured an array of presentations, videos and other resources.
